High School Engineering Design

This is an exciting and challenging course for the high school student that is interested in design, engineering, and other technical careers. During the semester, the student will be introduced to various engineering design processes, and apply these steps to the solving of real-world problems. The student will begin to think like a designer as they use teamwork to brainstorm, research, plan, create, and improve upon products and ideas. Along with industry standard software, the student will get their hands on 3D printing equipment alongside one of the most creative teachers in this field.


Mr. Jared Murphy came to Techno Chaos after teaching engineering design for 10 years at Foster High School, where he served as Department Chair for Career and Technical Education and was voted among his colleagues as 2012 Teacher of the Year. Jared will tell you that he never desired to be a teacher and that he truly feels he was called into this career path. While he teaches 3D design and robotics classes at Techno Chaos during the week, on the weekend you will more than likely find him providing outdoor laser tag events in the community through his company, Light Shine Laser Tag which was started in 2009. On Sundays you will find him leading the youth at his church in Missouri City. Jared is married to his beautiful wife, Jennifer, and they have a son, Jayce, and daughter, Jocelynn.

About Techno Chaos

As a physical makerspace for 5 years we've hosted projects involving 3D printing, robotics, Internet of Things(IoT), Arduino, Raspberry Pi, programming, Minecraft, etc.  Over the last two years, we have seen the interest grow in schools, libraries and other community organizations to create their own makerspace education programs.   Instead of continuing to grow our own community, we will be starting the next chapter in our journey to inspire making and project-based learning by focusing on providing services to schools, libraries and other communities.  Some of these services will be Makerspace and Robotics Starter Programs.  We look forward to being a partner with you and your organization to continue the journey!
